VSC vs Safety Car: What Is the Difference in Formula 1?

The main difference between a VSC and a Safety Car is how much they slow and regroup the field. Under a Virtual Safety Car (VSC), drivers reduce their speed to a controlled delta while keeping roughly their existing gaps. How do VSC and Safety Car periods affect strategy?

The time lost compared with a normal green-flag stop may be reduced, although the advantage varies by circuit.
